Colour Wheel

This Colour Wheel shows you what colours compliment your theme. Colours that you should or shouldn't use together, when making a magazine. This  mainly involves primary colours. In music there are specific colours that go with each music genre, when making my music magazine i will make sure the colours I use go with the genre's colour scheme, this way my audience will know exactly what it contains and they won't get confused.

Mode of Adress

Mode of Address is how media shouts at the audience. For example how music magazines are presented to the audience.

There are four main types of modes:

• 1st person - this can be used in a diary because you are talking about yourself, as in 'I and Me'.
• 3rd person - this can be used as a narrative.

There is also 'Formal and Informal' modes. For example formal may be represented in a classical music magazine or in a letter 'Yours Faithfully' or 'Yours sincerely'.

Also there are features that represent informal text in different ways, i.e:

• Colloquial Language - this can being interpreted as 'slang' or words that may be abbreviated. '.............'
• Expletive Language - this comes across as informal as it is known for 'swearing'.

The influences that may affect the modes of address in a music magazine may be:

• Genre
• Format of magazine
• Target Audience

Typography

Typography is the art and technique of arranging type to make written language legible, readable and appealing when displayed. The arrangement of type involves selective typefaces, point size, line-length, line-spacing, letter-spacing and adjusting the space within letter pairs. Kerning is the spacing between letters and it is varied depending on the font and size of the text, this helps to achieve a visually pleasing result.

Music Magazine Info.

A Music Magazine is a magazine dedicated to music and music culture. Such magazines typically include music news, interviews, photoshoots, essays, record reviews, concert reviews and occasionally have a covermount with recorded music.

Each music magazine has a different audience depending on the genre the magazine is covering. There are many different types of genres, such as, Rock, Indie, Jazz, Punk, Classical, Lounge and Pop, all of these types are portrayed in their own way in each magazine.

Here are a few examples of different magazine genres and what they are:

Rock: Rock magazines are dedicated to Rock Music. It focuses on key bands from the 1960s to the 1990s, it includes articles and reviews of current and upcoming artists. The target audience for rock magazines are usually young adults, between 18-30, because the language used is older and the colours used, red, gold, silver, black and white, are more sophisticated.


Indie: Indie magazines are full of independent music choices, such as, rock and indie music. It is more current and vibrant as it aims at a target audience with ages of 18-25 year olds. Indie magazines use a lot of red and black as it is a simple layout and there is a lot of writing on it which promotes inside content. It also shows the latest and best gigs to go to, the new and interesting upcoming artists with reviews and ratings.

Pop: Pop magazines are dedicated to the teens of our generations as it is full of celebrity gossip, Top 40 artists, typical pop celebrities and is full of bold colours, usually blues, pinks and yellows. The magazine contains interviews, images, gossip of celebrities and reviews and rating of upcoming films and music.
